# Can you make a zippered cover for a mattress I already have?

*A mattress you already sleep well on deserves a new coat, not a replacement. Corduroy, contrast piping and a zipper on the long edge come up again and again.*

No. Tufted pieces are sewn closed with no zipper, so if you want a removable cover that goes in the washing machine, order a plain, untufted one.

Usually. The fabric has a little stretch, so covers are cut about 1/2 to 3/4 in (1 to 2 cm) under the measured thickness for a tight look.
