# My size isn't in the dropdown. Which option do I pick to get the right price?

*Nobody can list every length a bench might run. So the size menu works like a price ticket, not a tape measure.*

Also asked as: What do I select as size for pricing?; So the price is the one for that option?

> **The quick answer:** Choose the closest size option, or the one the workshop names for you, and write your exact dimensions in Personalization; that option's price is what you pay. The workshop works out your exact size and points you to the option with the equivalent price, which may not look like your size at all. If a long cushion prices oddly, swap the width and length ranges.

## Key facts

- Custom sizes are ordered under the closest size option, with exact dimensions in Personalization.
- The workshop maps your size to the option with the equivalent price.
- A 12 x 75 in (30 x 190 cm) cushion was priced as the 16 x 59 in (40 x 150 cm) option.
- Standard rectangles are priced by the listing calculator, not by hand.
- Seat and back cushions are priced separately.
- For a long cushion, entering 31 in as the width and 96 in as the length made the price calculate correctly.
- Quotes follow the nearest listed size, and mismatches were corrected when buyers asked.

## The size menu sets the price, your note sets the cut

Nobody could list every length a bench might run, so the size menu does a different job: it sets the price. You pick the closest option, or the one the workshop names for you, and write your true dimensions in Personalization. The option's price is what you pay, and the cushion is cut to the numbers you wrote.

The workshop works out what your exact size costs and points you to the option carrying that price. Sometimes it does not look like your size at all. A 12 x 75 in (30 x 190 cm) cushion was priced as the 16 x 59 in (40 x 150 cm) option. Don't let that throw you, my friend. The ticket and the tape measure are two different tools.

## From the bench to the checkout in four moves

1. **Measure the space**: Width, length and thickness. The [bench cushion builder](https://cushionguide.com/studio/bench-cushion-builder/) draws the shape as you type.
2. **Choose the nearest option**: Or the one the workshop named. Enter width and length on the listing and the price appears.
3. **Write the real numbers**: Exact size, thickness and fabric go in Personalization; the [personalization note](https://cushionguide.com/guides/custom-cushion-personalization-note/) Pattern shows what to include.
4. **Price each piece on its own**: A seat cushion and a back cushion are two lines, priced separately.

## The long bench that priced itself wrong

A buyer in the US had a long bench and a stubborn calculator. For a cushion 96 in (244 cm) long and 31 in (79 cm) deep, the listing kept returning an odd price. The fix was to turn the ranges around: 31 in as the width, 96 in as the length. The price calculated correctly, and the exact size went into Add Personalization.

That cushion was 5 in (13 cm) thick, in linen, with contrast piping and a non-slip base. Just a menu read the other way round. More on long seats in [one piece or two](https://cushionguide.com/guides/long-bench-cushion-one-piece-or-two/), and the wider family lives under [bench cushions](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/bench-cushions/).

## When a quote and the dropdown disagree

Custom quotes follow the nearest listed size. When buyers spotted a quote that didn't match the dropdown, the workshop matched the listing price or corrected the mix-up. So hold the two side by side before you pay. Buy the cushion once, cry once. Which option did the menu hand you? The [sizes not on the menu](https://cushionguide.com/guides/custom-size-cushion-not-on-menu/) Pattern walks through the rest.

> **Tailor's margin:** A custom size cushion is priced by the closest dropdown option; the exact width, length and thickness in Personalization decide the cut.

> If a long bench cushion prices oddly, swap the ranges: enter 31 in as the width and 96 in as the length, then write the exact size in Personalization.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** If I pick the closest size option, is that what I pay for my custom size?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes. Listing every custom size is impossible, so the workshop calculates your exact dimensions and points you to the option with the matching price; a 12 x 75 in (30 x 190 cm) cushion was priced as the 16 x 59 in (40 x 150 cm) option.

**A common question:** Can you quote my outdoor sofa's seat and back cushions separately?

**The workshop's answer:** Standard rectangles are priced by the listing, not by hand. Enter width and length to see the seat and the back separately, then select the closest size and write exact measurements, thickness and fabric in Personalization.

**A common question:** Why is my custom size quoted so much higher than the nearest dropdown size?

**The workshop's answer:** Quotes follow the nearest listed size. When buyers spotted a mismatch, the workshop matched the listing price of the closest size, such as 28 x 64 in (71 x 163 cm), or corrected a mixed-up quote for a 71 x 20 in (180 x 50 cm) cushion downward. Compare with the dropdown and ask.

## Questions buyers ask next

### Does the size-option price already cover the foam and delivery?

The foam insert and the cover, yes; delivery depends on the listing. One quote included express delivery to the door, but some listings charge shipping separately and remote addresses can add a fee, so check the shipping line on your quote before you pay.

### How much does a backrest and two armrests add to a seat cushion?

There is no fixed add-on: the backrest and each armrest are priced as their own pieces, by size and fabric. Enter each one on the listing to see what it adds, or buy the seat only.

### Are the listing prices shown in dollars?

Yes. Prices and quotes are in US dollars. If your account uses another currency, the marketplace converts the total at checkout at its own daily rate.
