# Can you make a cushion to my exact measurements?

*Yes, to the inch, and to the millimeter if that is how your tape reads. The sizes in the dropdown are price brackets, partner, not the only cushions the shop can cut.*

Also asked as: Do you customize to exact measurements?; Can you do 118 x 15¾ in (300 x 40 cm)?

> **The quick answer:** Every cushion is made to order, so any length, depth and thickness can be made to your exact measurements. Send the numbers in inches, centimeters or millimeters, plus a drawing for anything that isn't a rectangle, and the workshop replies with a quote. You then order the nearest listed size with your exact size in the note, or pay through a custom order link.

## Key facts

- Every cushion is made to order, to the buyer's exact length, depth and thickness.
- Measurements are accepted in inches, centimeters or millimeters.
- Lengths over 79 in (200 cm) can be made.
- Sizes below the smallest listed option work too, such as 9 in (23 cm) wide on a listing that starts at 12 in (30 cm).
- Listed sizes are price ranges; the exact size goes in the personalization note.
- Trapezoids and angled shapes go through the custom-shape listing with an uploaded drawing.
- Custom order links stay active for a few days and are re-sent if they expire.

## The numbers to send before you order

- ✓ **Length**, the longest edge, in whatever unit your tape shows: inches, centimeters or millimeters.
- ✓ **Depth**, front to back. Write the word *depth* next to it so nobody swaps it with the length.
- ✓ **Thickness**, if you know it.
- ✓ **Any ledge or window-casing depth** the cushion has to clear.
- ✓ **A drawing** for anything that isn't a rectangle, with a length on every edge.
- ✓ **A yes or no on a matching backrest**; the shop may ask anyway.

## Four routes from your tape measure to checkout

| Your size | How you order it | What gets made |
|---|---|---|
| Inside a listed size range | Pick the range that covers it and write the exact size in the personalization note | Your exact size |
| Smaller than the smallest option | Pick the smallest range, e.g. for 9 in (23 cm) wide when the listing starts at 12 in (30 cm) | Your exact size |
| Past the largest option, or longer than 79 in (200 cm) | Send the numbers; the shop adds your size to the listing or sends a private custom order link | Your exact size |
| Trapezoid or angled | Custom-shape listing: the longest edge counts as the length, and your drawing is uploaded | Your shape, checked against the drawing |

## The dropdown is a price bracket, not a size chart

Real orders show how wide the range runs: bench and window seat cushions at 68 x 39.5 in (173 x 100 cm), 32 x 81 in (81 x 206 cm) and 24 x 76 in (61 x 193 cm), and one pad 9 in wide on a listing that started at 12. Tolerance is kindness to your future self, so write every number to the nearest 1/4 in and say which unit it's in.

If you need a few days to decide, a custom order link stays open, and the shop re-sends it when it expires. The [bench measuring pattern](https://cushionguide.com/guides/how-to-measure-bench-for-cushion/) shows where the tape goes, the [bench cushion builder](https://cushionguide.com/studio/bench-cushion-builder/) lets you check proportions, and [ordering a size that isn't on the menu](https://cushionguide.com/guides/custom-size-cushion-not-on-menu/) covers the note itself. Finished examples live in the [bench cushion atlas](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/bench-cushions/). Which of your three numbers matches no dropdown at all?

> **Tailor's margin:** The sizes in a cushion dropdown are price ranges. Pick the range that covers your bench and write the exact size, like 68 x 39.5 in, in the note.

> A made-to-measure cushion can be smaller than the smallest listed size or longer than 79 in; the workshop cuts to the numbers you send, in inches or millimeters.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** Can you make a cushion to my exact size, or do I have to pick one of the listed sizes?

**The workshop's answer:** Any custom size can be made; the listing sizes are only price ranges. Pick the range that covers your measurements, write your exact size in the personalization section, and the cushion is made to those numbers. Smaller works too, like 9 in wide on a listing that starts at 12.

**A common question:** None of the listed sizes fit my bench. Can you match my exact length and depth?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes. Send the length and depth, plus thickness if you know it, and the shop checks the details and replies with a quote. Millimeters, centimeters and inches are all fine.

**A common question:** Could you make a window seat cushion at 68 x 39.5 in, or a bench cushion at 32 x 81 in?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes. Sizes like 68 x 39.5 in, 32 x 81 in and 24 x 76 in have all been made. The shop also asks if you'd like a matching backrest.

**A common question:** My size isn't in the dropdown at all. How do I pay for it?

**The workshop's answer:** Send the exact size and the shop either adds it to the existing listing or creates a private custom-order listing for you. The link stays active if you need a few days, and it's re-sent if it expires.

## Questions buyers ask next

### My measurements are in millimeters. Do I need to convert them?

No. Millimeters, centimeters and inches are all accepted, so a 35¾ x 16¼ in (905 x 410 mm) cushion can be quoted as written. Keep every number in the same unit so length, depth and thickness can't get mixed up.

### Can a very long bench cushion be made in one piece?

Usually, on request: cushions of 104 in and 138 in have been made in one piece. For easier shipping and handling the workshop recommends about 79 to 90 in (200 to 230 cm) per piece and often suggests two equal pieces.

### What happens to my custom order link if I wait a week?

It may expire, since links stay active for a few days. Nothing is lost: message the shop and it re-sends the link for your size, so you can pay when you're ready.
