# I ordered my trapezoid cushion on the rectangle listing. What do I do now?

*A carefully measured angled seat, paid for on the rectangle page: it happens more than you'd think. The fix is quick, and the first order is refunded in full.*

Also asked as: I ordered on the wrong listing; I didn't see an option to upload the sketch

> **The quick answer:** If a trapezoid cushion went through the rectangle listing, reorder on the custom-shape listing and the workshop cancels the first order with a full refund. The custom-shape listing is the one that asks you to upload your drawing and write exact measurements at checkout. A rectangle or cover listing skips that upload, and without the sketch a custom shape risks a production mistake.

## Key facts

- Custom shapes such as trapezoids must be ordered on the custom-shape listing.
- Only the custom-shape listing asks for a drawing upload at checkout.
- After you reorder, the wrong-listing order is canceled with a full refund.
- Ordering a shape on the rectangle or cover listing skips the drawing safeguard and can cause production mistakes.
- Every edge on the drawing can be written to the nearest ¼ in; the workshop converts it to centimeters and checks the geometry before cutting.
- Complex shapes may be split into 2 to 3 pieces, and a finished shape can differ from the drawing by roughly 0.5 to 1 in (1 to 2 cm).
- The refund for the canceled order goes back to the original payment method; how soon it shows depends on the bank.

## The fix, in three moves

1. **Reorder on the trapezoid listing**: Choose the size options that cover your cushion and write every exact measurement. The [trapezoid measuring guide](https://cushionguide.com/guides/trapezoid-cushion-measurements/) lists which ones.
2. **Upload your drawing**: The custom-shape checkout asks for it. Label every edge; the [drawing checklist](https://cushionguide.com/guides/custom-shape-cushion-drawing/) shows how.
3. **Let the first order go**: Once the new order is in, the rectangle order is canceled and refunded in full.

## Why the rectangle page is the wrong door

A rectangle needs two numbers and no picture. A trapezoid needs a picture, because the same four numbers can be drawn more than one way. The rectangle listing has nowhere to put that picture, so the cutter gets numbers without a shape.

I once re-covered a window seat from a note that said “angled at one end.” Which end, dear? I guessed. Learn from me: order [trapezoid cushions](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/trapezoid-cushions/) where the sketch goes in, and check your sides first with the [trapezoid cushion calculator](https://cushionguide.com/studio/trapezoid-cushion-calculator/).

> **Tailor's margin:** A trapezoid cushion ordered on a rectangle listing arrives at the cutting table without its drawing. Reorder on the custom-shape listing instead.

> The rectangle listing has no place to upload a sketch, so a trapezoid cushion ordered there reaches the cutter with numbers but no shape.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** I bought my trapezoid seat cushion on the rectangle page by mistake. Can it be fixed?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes. Reorder through the trapezoid listing, choose the right size options, write your exact measurements and add the drawing. The first order is then canceled and refunded.

**A common question:** I used the wrong listing and couldn't find where to upload my sketch. What now?

**The workshop's answer:** That order is canceled with a full refund, and you're sent the correct custom-shape listing, whose checkout asks for your drawing. Skipping the upload can lead to production mistakes.

**A common question:** Can I change the size or thickness after ordering?

**The workshop's answer:** Usually, as long as production hasn't started and the fabric isn't cut yet. Send the new measurements or thickness; the order is updated and the change confirmed back to you. Changes that don't alter the price cost nothing extra.

## Questions buyers ask next

### Why does a trapezoid cushion need a drawing at all?

The same four numbers can describe more than one shape. A drawing shows which edge is longer and which ends are angled, so the custom-shape checkout asks for it; the rectangle listing has no upload step.

### Will I pay twice while the switch happens?

Only briefly. You pay for the new order on the custom-shape listing, and the rectangle order is canceled with a full refund. A refund can take a few days to show.

### Which listing is right for other odd shapes?

The custom-shape listing, for any cushion that isn't a plain rectangle. It is the one that asks for your sketch and exact measurements; the rectangle and cover listings skip that step.
