# Can you make cushions in corduroy, not just the sofa?

*Corduroy holds light in stripes, each wale with its own thin line of shadow. That texture is not reserved for the floor sofa; the workshop cuts it for cushions too.*

## Three cushions, one corduroy

The corduroy on the [modular floor sofa](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/modular-floor-sofas/) is available for cushions at the same price. Buyers have asked for it three ways: a quarter-round tufted corner cushion, a plain floor cushion and a long cushion for a bay window.

Tufting is a choice, not a rule. Ask for it on a [corner floor cushion](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/corner-floor-cushions/) when you want the soft dip of each button; leave it off when you want a calm, smooth top where the wale does all the talking.

One buyer wanted a floor cushion and a long bay-window cushion, both plain, in water-green corduroy: the soft, gray-leaning green of shallow water over sand. The workshop agreed to both, the window piece at about 24.5 x 118 in (62 x 299 cm) and the floor cushion at about 39.5 x 39.5 in (100 x 100 cm).

A long run of corduroy draws the eye along the window like a pencil line. What will sit beside yours: wide oak boards, a wool rug, bare plaster?

## Real corduroy or corduroy-like?

Two different offers have come back from the workshop, and it helps to know which you are getting. The sofa [corduroy](https://cushionguide.com/fabrics/corduroy/) is the proven one: mostly polyester or a poly-cotton blend, with removable, machine-washable covers. The corduroy-like fabric comes in cream, navy, mustard and terracotta, but there were no photos of finished cushions in it yet, so ask for close-ups before you commit.
