# How much does a custom size bench cushion cost?

*Everybody wants a number before they want a fabric, my friend, and that is only sensible. The honest answer is a rule, not a figure.*

Also asked as: can you give me a price estimate?; how much for a 58 inch length 17 wide

> **The quick answer:** A custom bench cushion's cost is set mainly by its length times its width, plus the thickness you pick. Choose the size range that covers your measurements on the listing and the exact price appears; shipping for your address shows at checkout or with the quote. Twice the area costs well under twice as much. Several or shaped cushions get one custom quote.

## Key facts

- Price is set mainly by length x width, chosen as a size range on the listing.
- Thickness is chosen on the listing too; between 2 and 5 in (5 and 13 cm) it moves the price only a little.
- Shipping for your address appears at checkout or in the quote, so check it before you pay.
- Exact size (fractional inches or cm), fabric code and piping choice go in the personalization note.
- The low 'from' price on a listing is for the smallest sizes, not a price drop.
- A cushion with about twice the surface area usually costs well under twice as much.
- Several cushions, a seat plus back, or shaped pieces get one quoted total, shipping stated, and a custom payment link.

## Why twice the bench isn't twice the bill

Every cushion, big or small, gets the same handling: the pattern is cut, the seams are sewn, the zipper goes in. That work is a fixed part of the price, so a cushion with twice the surface area usually costs well under twice as much.

Thickness moves the price only a little between 2 and 5 in (5 and 13 cm). Buy the cushion once, cry once: pick the thickness you will still like in years to come.

## How do I get the exact price for my bench cushion?

1. **Measure the bench**: Length and depth of the seat; fractions and centimeters are fine. The [bench measuring pattern](https://cushionguide.com/guides/how-to-measure-bench-for-cushion/) shows where the tape goes.
2. **Pick the size range and thickness**: Choose the range that covers both numbers. The price appears right away, and shipping for your address shows at checkout.
3. **Write the details**: Exact size, fabric code and piping go in the [personalization note](https://cushionguide.com/guides/custom-cushion-personalization-note/).
4. **Several pieces? Ask for one total**: For a set, a seat plus back, or a shaped cushion, send the sizes for one quoted total, with shipping stated, and a payment link.

## What the quotes have covered

Linen, velvet and corduroy, with and without piping, from 14 x 18 in (36 x 46 cm) seat pads to [bench cushions](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/bench-cushions/) over 86 in (218 cm) long, priced in US dollars. Sales move the numbers, so the listing is the live reference. What does your bench measure, end to end?

> **Tailor's margin:** The low 'from' price on a bench cushion listing is the price of the smallest sizes, not a sale on a 58 in bench.

> A bench cushion twice as long does not cost twice as much: cutting, sewing and the zipper are a fixed part of the work on every cushion.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** How much will my custom-size bench cushion cost?

**The workshop's answer:** Pick the size range that covers your dimensions, then your thickness, and the price shows right away, in US dollars. Shipping for your address is confirmed at checkout or with the quote, so check it before you pay.

**A common question:** Is the very low price at the top of the listing for my size?

**The workshop's answer:** No. Price depends on size and shows once you pick your width and length. The lowest figure is for the smallest sizes, such as an 18 x 18 in (46 x 46 cm) seat pad, not a price drop.

**A common question:** Does a thicker cushion cost more?

**The workshop's answer:** A little, between 2 and 5 in (5 and 13 cm), where length and width matter far more. Very tall pieces are different: a 12 in (30 cm) cushion was listed at twice the 6 in (15 cm) price.

## Questions buyers ask next

### Is shipping extra on a custom bench cushion?

It depends on your address and the quote: the shipping line for your address appears at checkout or in the quote, and some past quotes came back with delivery inside the total. Check that line before you pay.

### Can I get one price for a seat and a back cushion together?

Yes. Send both sets of sizes, or every cushion at once, and the workshop replies with one total, shipping stated, and a custom payment link. Trapezoids and other shapes are quoted the same way.

### Do I pay more for a size in fractions of an inch?

No. Choose the size range that covers your measurement and write the exact figure, fractions and all, in the personalization note. Fractional inches and centimeters are accepted at the range price.
