# What's the color code for the corduroy, velvet or outdoor fabric in your photos?

*A photograph is a color with its name torn off. My friends, you only have to ask, and the name comes back as a code.*

Also asked as: What fabric is the green one?; What color code is the brick?

> **The quick answer:** Ask, and the workshop names the code and can send a close-up: brick corduroy is COR-205, Off-White COR-201, the middle beige COR-202 and the deep green COR-207. Forest Green velvet is 126 and the wide blue, beige, sand and white outdoor stripe is V-38. The color charts show colors more accurately than small thumbnails.

## What to send when you ask

- ✓ Which photo: the first listing image, a review photo, the second picture.
- ✓ Which cushion, if there are several: “the middle one,” “the green one.”
- ✓ The fabric you want, if not the one shown; a color name shifts between corduroy, velvet and linen.
- ✓ A request for a close-up of the real fabric.

## Why a thumbnail is a poor witness

Corduroy and velvet carry a pile that leans one way, so the same cloth reads lighter or darker with light and angle; the [nap](https://cushionguide.com/glossary/#nap) is doing it, not the dye. Brick in a buyer's review photo is the same COR-205 as the listing, even when the two look like cousins.

So trust the [fabric code](https://cushionguide.com/glossary/#fabric-code) over the picture, and compare the [corduroy](https://cushionguide.com/fabrics/corduroy/) and [velvet](https://cushionguide.com/fabrics/velvet/) charts, which show colors more truly than a thumbnail.

> **Tailor's margin:** Brick corduroy in a review photo is the same COR-205 as the listing's brick; light and the direction of the pile change how it reads on screen.

> There is no darker green in corduroy than COR-207; for a deeper green, the next step is velvet, such as Forest Green 126, or soft fabric 928.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** What's the code for the striped fabric in your outdoor listing photo?

**The workshop's answer:** The wide blue, beige, sand and white stripe is V-38; the thin green stripe is N-21. A green in one customer photo was teddy 18 (922 also possible). Ask, and a close-up is sent.

**A common question:** What color code is the all-yellow bench in the first picture?

**The workshop's answer:** That's 920 mustard, a dark yellow. For bright white cotton, the options are Natural03 and H14, and N29 is a navy blue ticking stripe.

**A common question:** What color is the beige cushion with the red trim?

**The workshop's answer:** It was cream with orange piping. Other real answers: the cream cushion was velvet 103, the green tufted linen was chart number 5, and the gray was anthracite.

## Questions buyers ask next

### Is the brick in review photos the same as the listing's brick?

Yes. Both are COR-205. Review photos are taken in buyers' own rooms and light, so the same corduroy can look warmer or darker there than on the listing.

### Is there a darker green corduroy than COR-207?

No. COR-207 is the deep green in corduroy. For a darker green, the workshop points to velvet, such as Forest Green 126, or to soft fabric such as 928.

### Which white is brightest for a cotton cushion?

Natural03 and H14 are the bright-white cotton options. Off-White COR-201 is a corduroy and an off-white, not a bright white; ask for close-ups of the whites side by side.
