# Can I cancel my cushion order, and how long does the refund take?

*Right, then. Canceling is easy until the fabric is cut, so the clock that matters is the cutting table, not the calendar.*

Also asked as: Can I please cancel my order?; Can I cancel my order and request a refund?

> **The quick answer:** A custom cushion order can be canceled and refunded before production starts; once the fabric is cut or the order has shipped, it usually can't be. Message the workshop as soon as you know, because production is the deadline that matters. The refund goes back to your original payment method automatically, and your bank sets how fast it shows.

## Key facts

- Changes and cancellation are possible before production starts; ask the workshop right away.
- Orders canceled before production have been refunded in full.
- Shipped orders can't be canceled.
- Refunds return automatically to the original payment method, sometimes under the original charge.
- How fast a refund shows depends on your bank and card.

- An order can be put on hold or changed instead of canceled.

## Where your order stands, and what canceling does

| Order stage | Can it be canceled? | What happens to the money |
|---|---|---|
| Just ordered, by mistake or in a hurry | Yes, before production starts | Refund to your original payment method |
| Paid, production not started | Yes | Full refund in past cases; the timing depends on your bank |
| Payment still processing | After the payment clears | The workshop waits, then cancels and refunds |
| In production | Not guaranteed; the piece is made only for you | Decided case by case: past orders got a partial refund or were held to ship later |
| Duplicate already made | One ships | In past cases, part of each extra's price was refunded |
| Dispatched | No | No cancellation refund |

## Ask for a change before you ask for a cancel

I once canceled a fabric order in a temper when one line of the note needed fixing, then waited for my own money to come home. Don't be me. If the size or fabric is wrong, the workshop can update the order before production; if you aren't ready, it can hold it. And don't cancel just to switch cards.

The [personalization note Pattern](https://cushionguide.com/guides/custom-cushion-personalization-note/) shows what to write, and the [chair pad measuring Pattern](https://cushionguide.com/guides/dining-chair-pad-measurements/) helps if the worry is fit on your [dining chair cushions](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/dining-chair-cushions/). Is it the order you want gone, or just one detail?

## What to put in the cancel message

- ✓ Whole order or one item? To drop one item, the workshop may cancel the order and ask you to reorder the rest.
- ✓ Would a change or a hold do instead?
- ✓ If the payment is still processing, it has to clear first.
- ✓ Watch for the refund under the original charge.

> **Tailor's margin:** A custom cushion order can be canceled before production starts. After that it's made only for you, and a full refund isn't guaranteed.

> Don't cancel a cushion order just to switch cards: the money has to travel back to your original payment method first, and banks take their time.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** I placed an order by accident. Can I cancel, and how do refunds work?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes, if production hasn't started: message the workshop right away. It first asks whether a size or fabric just needs adjusting. The refund goes automatically to your original payment method, and your bank sets how fast it shows.

**A common question:** Can I cancel part of my order instead of all of it?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes, before production starts. A processing payment has to clear first. To remove one item the workshop may cancel the whole order and ask you to reorder what you need, and the refund can take several business days to show.

**A common question:** I ordered the same custom cushion twice by mistake. What now?

**The workshop's answer:** If production hasn't started, the workshop cancels and refunds. Once a custom order is produced or shipped it can't be canceled; when an accidental duplicate was already made, one shipped and part of the other's price was refunded.

**A common question:** I picked the wrong fabric. Do I have to cancel?

**The workshop's answer:** No. Before production starts, message the new body fabric and piping codes and the order is updated. Once the fabric has been cut, the cushion is made in the original colors.

## Questions buyers ask next

### Is there a deadline for canceling?

The deadline that matters is production: the workshop has canceled orders any time before production began. Once a custom piece is in production or has shipped, the answer changes, so write as soon as you know.

### Why does my cushion refund appear under the original charge?

Refunds go back automatically to the payment method you used, and some banks show them against the original charge rather than as a new line. How fast it shows depends on your bank.

### Can my cushion order wait until I'm ready instead of being canceled?

Yes. If you don't need the cushions right now, the workshop can keep the payment on hold until you're ready, and if only a detail needs changing it can update the order without canceling.
